24th-25th February 2022, GreenViet centre cooperated with GSI Institute to organize a training on project & Financial Management for Sub-Grantees from the project “Establishing a funding foundation for biodiversity protection and environmental sustainability in Danang City, Vietnam”.This project is implemented by GreenViet (Vietnam, and Gustav-Stresemann-Institut (GSI, Germany), co-funded by the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam.
The training program has the participation of representatives of leaders of Da Nang Union of Science and Technology Association; GreenViet centre; GSI institution; Center for Community Research and Development (CCRD), Hue ; Chairman of DIM Club (DIM),The University of Da Nang – University of Science and Education ; Coffee collaboration group Xary 2, Quang Tri province; Center for Development of Community and Environmental Initiatives (C&E), Ho Chi Minh City Hanoi.
Accordingly, the program is held in two days with two platforms online and offline. On the first day of training on project management, the sub-donors introduced the project and work plan, and everyone participated in a group discussion to share experiences, lessons and topics. expected output. The second day of financial management training included regulations and forms related to project financial management in accordance with the provisions of the Law of Vietnam and the regulations of the GreenViet Center as well as the European Union.
Speaking at the training , Mr. Nguyen Dinh Phuc (Vice President of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Da Nang City) emphasized that: In addition to Project Management, to ensure the project process and goals, the financial management of small projects comply with not only local regulations (Vietnam’s tax and accounting requirements) but also European Union’s criteria on sponsorship grants.
This training course supports the sub-grantees to effectively manage and implement both technical and financial aspects of small projects. Also, it enhances the capacity of local CSOs, especially the youth-based organizations. It contributes to the 2 objectives of the Conservation Fund project :(1) promote the participation of local social organizations in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Central and Central Highlands provinces in addressing issues of biodiversity conservation and sustainable environment; (2) improve the capacity of local social organizations, especially social organizations and grassroots organizations operating in the field of biodiversity conservation and sustainable environment.
Ms. Luong Ngoc Tram-Representative of Xary 2 group, shared: What has been trained in the past two days is really useful. Honestly, I had the opportunity to explain the concerns and aspirations of our Forest Garden Coffee project (in Tay Truong Son, Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province) . Besides, I have received enthusiastic support from Experts.
Truong Cong Thanh (3rd year student,Da Nang University of Education): I am very honored to be represented by the DIM to participate in this training program. This is an opportunity for me to learn and hone the necessary skills for upcoming projects as well as demonstrate the responsibility of the young generation to the community.
Throughout the program, the Sub-Grantees actively discussed and raised questions to be answered by experts. Besides, thoughts and aspirations of the sponsors, organizers, and Sub-Grantees are also shared openly with the desire to achieve the highest efficiency in the project implementation process.
Coming from many different lands, each Sub-Grantees brings their own story and mission. But they have a common message of enhancing the awareness and participation of the community to protect the environment and biodiversity.
